Spring Hiking on Mount Emei: Cherry Blossom Routes from Fuhu Temple to Leidongping
Spring is the perfect season to explore Mount Emei! Last week, we went hiking along the blooming cherry and crabapple flowers, and we’ve curated 3 spring cherry blossom routes suitable for both beginners and advanced hikers. Enjoy flowers, temples, and scenic trails while avoiding the crowds. Plan your Mount Emei spring adventure with our Chengdu travel agency for an unforgettable experience.
Route 1: Beginner-Friendly → Fuhu Temple → Qingyin Pavilion (3 km, 1.5 hours)
Highlights: Lots of cherry blossoms, easy trail, ideal for photography.
Start at Baoguo Temple, hike 15 minutes to Fuhu Temple, where the cherry blossom grove outside the temple is breathtaking (blooming March–April, pink and white petals). Continue along the stream path for 1 hour to Qingyin Pavilion, passing blooming crabapple and camellia flowers. The combination of flowing water, flowers, and ancient bridges looks like a painting.
Food: Have lunch near Qingyin Pavilion at Emei Renjia Restaurant. Recommended: cherry blossom jelly (15 RMB, visually stunning and refreshing) and tofu rice (15 RMB).

Route 2: Advanced Cherry Blossom → Wannian Temple → Xixiang Pool (12 km, 5 hours)
Highlights: High-altitude cherry blossoms + historic temples, peaceful and quiet.
Take the scenic bus to Wannian Temple at 8 AM, then hike 1 hour to the temple’s back hills. The high-altitude cherry trees (white, bloom late March) here are stunning and pair beautifully with the ancient temple, creating a serene Zen atmosphere. Continue hiking towards Xixiang Pool, passing bamboo groves dotted with cherry blossoms. Arrive by 2 PM and check into Xixiang Pool temple guest rooms (200 RMB/night). Enjoy sunset and cherry blossoms – an unforgettable view.
Route 3: Panoramic Cherry Blossom → Leidongping → Golden Summit (8 km, 3 hours)
Highlights: Cherry blossoms + sea of clouds + sunrise – breathtaking!
Wake up at 4 AM, take the scenic bus to Leidongping, then hike 20 minutes to Jieyin Hall, and take the cable car to the Golden Summit (arrive before 6 AM). Watch the sunrise with clouds and cherry blossoms framing the Samantabhadra Statue. Hike down from the Golden Summit to Leidongping along the trail lined with pink cherry blossoms (early April bloom) – the view is like a fairyland.
Tips: Golden Summit cherry blossoms bloom for only about 10 days in early April, so plan carefully.
Spring Hiking Gear:
Clothing: Light-colored dresses (for photos) + thin jacket (mountain temperatures vary), non-slip sneakers
Essentials: Sunscreen, sunglasses, camera
Extras: Cherry blossom hair accessories, small snacks (cherry blossom-flavored cookies for fun)
Avoid Mistakes: Cherry blossom season is busy – buy tickets and scenic bus passes in advance. Do not pick flowers; fines apply. Trails near Leidongping can be wet with morning dew – wear non-slip shoes.
